Creative community is abundant in our region!  Potters, painters, blacksmiths, quilters, woodworkers, and a multitude of other artisans carry on traditions and explore new horizons with their crafts.  Local farms tap into the creative force of the earth to produce fruit, vegetables, meat, honey, fiber, herbs and flowers.  Our intent is that The Artisan Fair at Sedalia will become the flagship event for all regional artisans and artisan farms, encompassing the creative spirit found throughout the region.

In that spirit, we are also pleased to be partnering with others in our community to raise awareness about the development of an Artisan Trail in Bedford.  Given the large number of artisans and artisan farms in our area, a group of Bedford area business owners, local officials and interested citizens is organizing a partnership with the Artisans Center of Virginia’s Artisan Trail Network to develop an artisan trail in Bedford.

The Artisan Center of Virginia developed the Artisan Trail Network to offer a unique opportunity to form strategic alliances with artisans, galleries, farms, and retailers across the state, while connecting points of interest, restaurants, and accommodation locations in the related communities. Designed to enhance regional tourism activity, trail participation is comprised of the following categories:  craft artisan, agri-artisan, craft-related business and supporting sites.

Over 100 individuals/venues have been identified as potential participants in an Artisan Trail in Bedford.  The Artisan Fair at Sedalia will serve as an incubator event for the development of an artisan trail in Bedford.  It will be an opportunity for artisans to gather and display their craft and to raise public awareness about the coming trail.

Our nominal fee to enter the Artisan Fair at Sedalia is $25.00, $5.00 of which will be set aside as seed money for the development of the Artisan Trail locally. Happily, a generous patron of the arts has already donated scholarship money for a limited number of emerging artisans in the area!  Please note that the Sedalia Center welcomes vendors at many events, but this is the one event of the year dedicated exclusively to showcasing the region's truly creative community--mark your calendars now!  Also we encourage you to pass along the information to fellow creative souls, and are listening for your feedback.
