Come celebrate springtime in Central Virginia by getting outside with your neighbors, friends, and family, catching up on the news, tasting the best of local barbeque and hearing the best of local country music at the Sedalia Center’s opening event of the season. Each team of dedicated pulled pork pros prepares enough of its secret recipe for everyone to get a taste -- and by the time you’ve visited them all, you’ll have a full stomach, and very likely a thirst. Beer, wine, water, and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale, along with an additional limited menu from the Sedalia Café.
When you’ve enjoyed all the tasty BBQ you can handle for a while, stroll under the pavilion and relax (or dance) to the great country and classic southern rock music of Bedford’s own Sam Austin Band. They were a hit last year, and we are well pleased to have them back again.
Every team sends a generous sample of its entry to our distinguished panel of judges, who will decide on the Best BBQ and the Best Presentation. Everyone at the BBQ is invited to choose which team gets the People’s Choice Award by leaving ballots in cans at the teams’ booths.
Spring Fever just may have got a hold of you by the middle of May. To really cure that spring fever, go whole hog, (so to speak): Plan to camp overnight surrounded by the mountains and the sweet scents of spring. Tent camping and a limited number of trailer spots are available on a first come, first served basis. Electrical hookups are $20 for the night; rough camping $5.
There’s plenty of room for the kids to run and play, so bring the family out to Sedalia for a day of good food, good music, and good company. No pets or coolers in the festival area.
